Position: Orff Teaching Artist NJPAC "Orff in Your Neighborhood" Program The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) is looking for an early childhood music teacher with a background in Orff Schulwerk to teach in a new program that will engage students between the ages of 3-7 years old, throughout the Newark community as part of Mayor Baraka’s Centers of Hope Initiative. Requirements · Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education · Demonstrated ability to sing in tune and have basic keyboard skills · Experience in classroom management · Demonstrated ability to lesson plan and · Demonstrated experience or desire to work in an urban setting · Orff training, experience or certification · Minimum 2-3 years of teaching early childhood music · Strong communication skills, written and verbal · Ability to travel to community sites in Newark, NJ · Participate in professional development Hourly rate commensurate with experience Starting date: April 14, 2015 No phone calls please.
