The mission of the Northern New Jersey Orff Schulwerk Association is to demonstrate the value of Orff-Schulwerk and promote its widespread use, to support the professional development of our members, and to provide a forum for the continued growth and understanding of Orff Schulwerk that reflects the diversity in contemporary American society.
The Northern New Jersey Orff Schulwerk Association is a non-profit organization of music and movement educators dedicated to the creative teaching approach developed by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman. NNJOSA is chapter number 49 of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA) and was chartered on November 11, 1977. Our organization was founded by Sue Snyder and Marilyn Davidson. First known as the Bergen County Orff Schulwerk Association, the earliest record of a meeting is dated September, 1975. We are joined by our belief that learning music - learning to sing and play, to hear and understand, to move and create - should be an active and joyful experience.
The Northern New Jersey Orff Schulwerk Association workshops may be applied towards the 100-hour professional development requirement for teachers. Certificates are emailed to attendees following each workshop.
The best way to find out more about us, Orff Schulwerk and AOSA is to attend our Saturday workshops.
